1968 Cougar XR7-G – Hertz Rent a Car

This is the car that got Cascade Classics started.  I purchased it in 1988 from a local owner.  In 1989 I began a minor restoration which included a paint job and new front seat upholstery – the rest of the interior is original.   Since I was employed full time as a software consultant I only had the weekends to get the car done.  After taking it to a few local shows people started asking me if I would restore their car.  I did a couple cars and decided to leave the software business and open Cascade Classics.

This car is one of the hundred XR7-G cars ordered by the Hertz corporation for use in their rental fleet.  For a mere $21.95 per day and .17 per mile you could enjoy using one of these cool cars.  All Hertz cars were optioned the same way and included the 390-4V motor, C6 transmission, Air Conditioning, Tilt Wheel, and Power Steering and Disc Brakes and the sliding sunroof.  The G options included fog lights, hood pins, exhaust tips through the valance, special outside mirror, special console and XR7-G badges on the sail pillars, headlight door, dash and trunk lock.

I sold the car in 2008 and the car now resides in Northern California.
