This Cougar Eliminator Boss 302 was just sold at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, AZ on Friday January 20, 2017. It’s new home will be at Kuck Motorsports, a museum in Lincoln, NE.
The ground up restoration was completed in December 2016. This is one of only 146 Eliminator Boss 302s built with a wide ratio 4 speed. The all original engine has been rebuilt requiring only an .008 overbore. All original transmission and rear differential. The interior is completely original except for the headliner, carpet and restored steering wheel. All original suspension and brake parts were completely restored including unique lower control arms, tie rods and idler arm. This is truly a #1 car.
The pictures below were taken this past December 2016.
The restoration of the car began in October 2015. The following are photos of the car as purchased. The car was ordered by Burien Lincoln Mercury and was sold at Wilson Ford in Bellingham, WA. It’s had 3 previous owners but has been a Washington car all it’s life so the body was in super nice shape. One lower quarter panel patch is all that was needed.
Car is all disassembled and undercoating removed. Nice examples of overspray patterns.
Back from media blasting and body and paint is progressing.
Car is finally back from paint and in the assembly phase.
