1970 Cougar Eliminator 428CJ

Update – June 9, 2018.  This car has found a new home in Florida.  It’s new owners are a great couple of people.

This was one of my personal cars we completed a concours restoration in 2010. Equipped with a 428CJ engine with C6 automatic and factory air conditioning. Decore interior using NOS materials.  Originally from California this is one of the cleanest bodied cars we have done. All panels are original except for the NOS front and rear valances. Extensive list of NOS parts used during the restoration.  Finalist in the Hemmings Muscle Car of the year Competition in 2012 at the Goodguys Pacific Northwest Nationals in Washington.

I purchased this car back in 2006.  The body was in exceptional condition and only required one small rust repair behind the wheel about 3″X3″.  The drivers door and hood were replaced with a date correct originals.  The door because of the rusted corners and the hood because someone had installed Ram Air.  This is a non-ram car.  NOS front and rear valances.  Everything else is the original metal.  Here are a few photos of the car when purchased.

During the disassembly we found the original build sheet along with super nice sheet metal. Detailed photos were taken of all the blacked out areas and undercoating patterns.  Then it was plastic media blasted and sent to the body shop.

Automotive Images in Tacoma, WA handled the body and paint part of the project. I’ve used them for almost 20 years and have always received a fantastic job.

Next up is reassembly.
